The Bodyshop Talk’s – Keep Safe During National Family Safety Week

We are still in national ‘Family Safety’ week and so naturally this means that it’s time to think about a vehicle check. You and your family will be constantly travelling in your car this summer, which makes you responsible for their safety, which can’t be taken lightly.

As a result we’re going to give you tips on just a couple of things that you should be checking regularly to make sure your car is safe on the road.

Oil:

In our opinion this is an obvious point. It’s extremely important to check your oil pressure regularly – as your car can get through 1 litre of oil every 1000 miles! If your pressure is too low or high it could cause severe damage to your car, making it very unsafe to drive.

If your oil light has already been on for some time you may already be at risk! But don’t worry as you can bring your vehicle in to our team here at The Bodyshop who will talk you through any potential damage you may have incurred.

Lights:

Make sure that you give all your exterior lights a good clean every few weeks, as you can imagine, if not maintained it can limit their brightness. It’s also important to keep an eye out for any blown bulbs and cracks in the lenses.

If you do see any of these problems, then please contact us immediately so we can repair or replace parts as soon as possible and you can avoid any nasty fines if stopped by the police.

Electrics:

Last but certainly not least, your electrics (specifically your batteries.) Being the most common cause of breakdowns year round it’s surprising how many people forget to examine them at all. However, you must remember how important it is to regularly check your batteries and have them replaced if and when they age.

Furthermore, it’s vital that you check your electric cooling fan, to make sure that it runs efficiently when the engine gets hot. If you’re unsure how to do this just bring your car into us and we can check for you.

So here are some simple car checks that you can carry out yourself! We hope they help to keep you and your family safe during this national ‘Family Safety’ week. Don’t forget we’re here to help, so should you have any questions about your vehicle just give us a call on 020 8500 9228 for friendly professional advice.
